Ellen graduated from Troy State University in Montgomery, Alabama in 1986 with a degree in Accounting. She moved to Charlotte with her two children and began a career at NCNB which would become Bank of America. She worked in International Credit and Internal Audit. After leaving the bank, she ran a successful flooring installation company for 22 years winning contracts with Target from Maryland to Miami as well as working on numerous military bases and schools around Charlotte.
